Human Wildlife Interaction: Leopards

Titli Trust has been supporting the Uttarakhand Forest Department in its efforts to mitigate human wildlife conflict, especially the leopard conflict in the state since 2011 in partnership with WCS-India. The mitigating mechanism is a program titled “Living with Leopards”, a model of co-existence, benefiting people and the leopard.
Titli Trust’s interventions in the last decade include, in partnership with WCS-India:

2011-2015: Human attacks by leopards in Uttarakhand, India: an assessment based on perceptions of affected people and stakeholders: a social survey. Full report here.

2016-17: Consultation with Uttarakhand Forest Department

2017-2020: Living with Leopards initiated in Tehri and Garhwal Forest Divisions with funding support from ONGC.

2020-2022: Living with Leopards initiated in Narendranagar Forest Division, with funding support from Wildlife Conservation Trust, Mumbai.
