Pawalgarh, Nainital District, Uttarakhand
Sitabani Conservation Reserve (earlier Pawalgarh Conservation Reserve)
Nestled in the foothills of the Kumaon Himalaya, Pawalgarh is a paradise for nature enthusiasts. With more than 375 species of birds, it is one of the finest birding destinations in the region. Unlike Corbett National Park, Pawalgarh offers the freedom to explore on foot — walking through forest trails, listening to the symphony of bird calls, and photographing wildlife amidst tranquil surroundings. The area also supports 32 species of mammals, over 125 species of butterflies, and a rich diversity of moths, making it a true wildlife treasure.
Since 2015, Titli Trust has been supporting a conservation and livelihood programme in Pawalgarh, Nainital District, Uttarakhand, with funding assistance from ONGC. A dedicated local youth group, PawalgarhPrakratiPrahari, has played a vital role in promoting nature-linked responsible tourism and driving community-based conservation initiatives. From 2021 to 2024, with support from the Wipro Foundation, Titli Trust also implemented the Wipro Earthianprogramme — a nature education initiative for school teachers and local school children, fostering deeper connections with the natural world across the Pawalgarh landscape.
