Between 2017 and 2019, Titli Trust supported TERI, Delhi, in initiating a biodiversity documentation project aimed at promoting community-based ecotourism in the villages of Sukhai, Khivikhu, and Ghukeyi in Zunheboto District, Nagaland. The initiative worked closely with the local NGO, Tizu Valley Biodiversity Conservation and Livelihood Network, to build the capacity of local youth in biodiversity documentation.
As a result, more than 200 bird species, 225 butterfly species, and over 300 moth species were recorded from the area. The participating villages subsequently established Community Conserved Areas (CCAs) to protect their community forests. A biodiversity meet held in May 2018 further strengthened community engagement and awareness toward long-term conservation.
